FAMILY SERVICES
New Hope for Families
New Hope for Families was started in 1986 by a group of concerned citizens in Pawtucket and Central Falls to provide families with a safe place to go to rebuild their resources and their lives. As the only emergency family shelter in the City of Pawtucket and Central Falls, families come to the shelter from a variety of circumstances including overcrowded housing, eviction, living in cars, or living house to house. Each year, New Hope provides shelter to nearly 50 families.
In response to the homeless prevalence in the area, New Hope for Families created a home that supports its mission of providing structure, support and case management. With the assistance of its bilingual staff, the shelter has the capability to receive low-income families from several different cultures and backgrounds, including those who speak English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Cape Verdean. Currently, the shelter has a capacity of 24 beds and can accommodate up to 6 families at one time for a maximum of 12-weeks.
In July 2005, New Hope for Families affiliated with Gateway Healthcare allowing for much needed infrastructure support in the areas of clinical services, human resources and staff trainings.
