CHILDREN'S SERVICES
Residential Programs
Children's Residential Programs
The Children's Residential Programs provide comprehensive mental health
services including crisis intervention, long-term treatment, care
and housing for severely emotionally disturbed, sexually and physically
abused, and neglected children and adolescents across Rhode Island.
The spectrum of care includes extended residential care facilities,
Acute Residential treatment and stabilization, independent living
and aftercare support for youth reentering the community.
The programs aim to provide permanence, well-being and safety through
family centered, strength based treatment in a community setting. Our
professional staff devotes 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to make
sure our kids learn the skills necessary to lead productive lives.
During the time children are with us, individual, group, recreational
and milieu therapy are provided to them and their families. Families
participate in therapy with children to learn ways of parenting
children with special needs.
The Acute Residential Treatment Service program (ARTS) provides
24-hour short-term care for adolescents ages 12 to 18 who are in
crisis. Youth come to the ARTS program as an alternative to hospitalization
and may step down to the Partial Day Program (PDP) before returning
home.
LINK
Once a youth graduates from one of the adolescent group homes, she
may be eligible to move to an apartment and become part of the semi-independent
apartment program called LINK. LINK provides supervision, life skills
instruction and support for older youth stepping out on their own
for the first time. Youth in this program continue to receive services
from group home clinical and milieu staff.
