CHILDREN'S SERVICES
ASD Connections
Clinical Services for Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are vulnerable to developing mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. Their challenges with understanding and responding to social interactions and environments that are complex and confusing can create significant emotional stress that requires specialized clinical intervention.
ASD Connections can help…
- We believe that every child and family have strengths and resources that are the building blocks for effective treatment and long term solutions.
- We have a specialized team of clinicians, psychiatrists, and case managers who are trained in supporting children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders.
- Speech/language, occupational therapy, and behavior therapy professionals support the team in designing appropriate treatment interventions.
- The family is involved throughout the therapeutic process and is supported in relevant settings through parent education, counseling, groups, and resource management.
Children’s Intensive Services (CIS) & Child & Family Intensive Treatment (CFIT)
CIS/CFIT is designed for children and families who are in crisis and who require intensive intervention for stabilization. Therapeutic and case management services are provided in the home and community. We work hand-in-hand with schools and other service providers to identify needs and coordinate treatment.
(CIS is a Medicaid program available to children covered by RIte Care & RI Medical Assistance. CFIT is a benefit provided by Blue Cross/Blue Shield & United Healthcare commercial insurers.)
Enhanced Outpatient Services (EOS)
Specialized clinical and case management services are provided to families who require short term, intensive therapeutic supports. Clinicians and case managers provide community-based treatment to help the family across multiple settings.
(EOS is available to families covered by Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island.)
Family Outpatient Program (FOP)
Individual, family, and group counseling is available to help children, youth, and their families cope with significant life challenges. Groups for promoting psychosocial development and emotional regulation are often available. Psychiatric evaluations and medication management can be provided in conjunction with counseling services.
(Outpatient services are available through most commercial insurance and RI Medical Assistance plans.)
Partial Hospital Program (PHP)
When a youth requires short term, intensive treatment in a safe and structured day setting, Gateway Healthcare’s PHP for adolescents may be appropriate. Daily psychiatric monitoring and treatment are provided while staff work with the family to prepare the youth for the transition back to school.
(PHP services are available through most commercial insurance and RI Medical Assistance plans.)
