When your child is suffering, your instinct is to fix it: now.
But when your child has special needs, such as developmental disabilities,
including autism, behavioral and medical disabilities, you may find
yourself in a dizzying round of phone tag looking for special services.
Where do you turn to find the right agencies and specialists?
Empowered
Families CEDARR Center
Families coping with special needs, behavioral health issues, developmental
disabilities, medical disorders, autism and technology dependance
struggle every day to find the services they need. Our CEDARR Family
Center offers a direct link to the care that fits each family’s
needs, as well as therapeutic intervention for the short term. We
are a ‘one-stop shop’ for families, providing assessment,
referral and resources to address your needs and help guide you
along a difficult journey.
What does the CEDARR Center do?
First, an Empowered Families qualified staff person will outline
how we can help you understand your child’s issues and what
resources are available to you and your family. If you choose to
receive CEDARR services, we will assess your family’s strengths
and challenges to provide you with a comprehensive understanding
of your child’s strengths and issues. This meeting will be
conducted at a location that is most comfortable for you. For crisis
situations, we intervene immediately.
We may set up appointments for your family with specialty providers
or clinical experts in order to determine a proper diagnosis. Once
a diagnosis has been determined, a plan of treatment options will
be developed using the treatment providers of your choice.
Once the assessment is complete, you will be offered options for
treatment and support, including assistance in identifying available
resources, deciding on a treatment/care plan, and developing goals
for your child’s treatment. We will incorporate treatment
goals into a Family Care Plan and review it with you and the appropriate
providers.
The entire process is family-driven with the focus on providing
empowering opportunities for families.
If you wish, Empowered Families will remain involved and assist
in coordinating services. Additionally, Empowered Families will
work with you to revise the Family Care Plan if therapies need re-evaluation
over time.
Families Can Access Enhanced Services
The following services are offered at any time to families working
with the Empowered Families CEDARR Center and are accessible to
families working with other CEDARR Centers. To access these services
consult with your CEDARR Team.
Therapeutic Intervention Consultation is offered to families that
would benefit from short term support and direction in managing
their child’s presenting problems. This service is provided
by a clinician. Additionally, once a Family Care Plan has been completed
a family may work with our Behavior Analyst to develop and learn
to utilize behavior management plans.
Health Promotion and Maintenance Group Intervention is designed
to increase your family’s understanding of a specific disability
and the short- and long-term impacts on your child and family.
